The platform

Platform information and proposed QAF engineering. Component imagery is illustrative; final configuration and regional performance require validation.

Two compact bodies. A clear boundary between the platform and the proposed QAF work.

What we keep

The body-in-white, the doors, the glasshouse and the roof. The high-voltage architecture: battery pack, motor, inverter, on-board charger and the wiring between them. The crash structure and the airbags, exactly as the platform was certified. The screens' positions and the switchgear's mounting points.

What we change

Every painted surface — repainted two-tone in our own booth. The front fascia, bonnet and rear panel on the Emerald. The rear exterior display fitted to the platform's three-door, which comes off to leave a painted panel carrying the brass qaf on the left and a dark Saudi emblem plaque on the right. Every seat, every door card, the headliner, the floor, the fascia trim. The compressor, condenser, insulation and glazing. The charging inlet, from the platform's domestic standard to CCS2. The software layer the guest sees.

What we add

Telematics, a fleet controller, a second cabin zone for the rear seat on the guest models, the cold box in the nose, the guest fittings described on The Guest.

Why this platform

Three reasons. It is upright and short, so it turns in a courtyard and parks in a colonnade. The platform offers lithium iron phosphate battery options, to be assessed against the duty cycle. Volume production provides an established starting point for parts, tooling and engineering documentation. QAF conversions still need their own validation and applicable approvals. We add the part that does not exist: a cabin and a finish for the guest of the Kingdom.
